— Terms
The ground rules.
These terms cover your use of Topic Squad: the website, the app and any paid plan. Please read them, because using Topic Squad means you accept them.

1. Who these terms are with
These terms are between you and Local Ventures and Investments LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as ratio.dev ("we", "us" or "our"). Our mailing address is 5764 N Orange Blossom Trl, PMB 91711, Orlando, FL 32810, United States. You can contact us at tony@ratio.dev.
2. What Topic Squad is
Topic Squad answers questions using the public videos of groups of expert creators, which we call squads. Answers are written by AI models from the videos' transcripts. They describe what the experts have said, in the third person, and link each claim to a quote and the video it came from.
Topic Squad is independent. Unless a squad says otherwise, the creators we cite haven't endorsed Topic Squad and aren't involved in it. Answers are our summaries of their public material, not statements by them.
3. Answers can be wrong
We check every quote against the video transcript and remove quotes that don't match. But the summary around the quotes is written by AI and can still misread, oversimplify or leave out context. Experts can also be wrong, out of date or disagree with each other. Check the quotes and the videos before you rely on an answer.
Topic Squad doesn't give professional advice. Nothing in an answer is medical, legal, financial, tax or other professional advice, and it isn't a substitute for someone qualified who knows your situation.
4. Your account
- You must be at least 16 to use Topic Squad, and old enough to enter a binding contract where you live to buy a paid plan.
- Give us an email address you control, and keep access to it and to your sign-in links to yourself.
- An account is for one person. You're responsible for what happens through it.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into your account.
5. Plans, billing and cancelling
- Free plan: a limited number of questions each month. We may change the free allowance.
- Paid plans: the price, billing period and question allowance are shown on the pricing page and at checkout. Payment is taken in advance by Stripe. Prices include or exclude tax as shown at checkout.
- Renewal: paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period, and you're charged again, until you cancel.
- Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from your account page. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and then won't renew.
- Unused questions: allowances reset at the start of each period. Unused questions don't carry over and aren't refunded. A question we turn away because it's off topic or isn't a real question still counts.
- Refunds: payments for a period that has started aren't refundable, except where the law says otherwise or we decide to make one. If something went wrong, email us and we'll look at it fairly.
- Price changes: if we change the price of your plan, we'll tell you before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
- App stores: if you buy a plan through Apple or Google once our mobile apps launch, that store's billing and refund rules apply to the purchase.
If you're a consumer in the UK or the European Economic Area, you normally have 14 days to cancel a new subscription. When you start a paid plan, you ask us to start it straight away. If you cancel within the 14 days, we'll refund you, minus a proportionate amount for the questions you've already used.
6. Fair use
You agree not to:
- scrape, copy in bulk or automate access to Topic Squad, or use it to build a competing product or dataset;
- share, resell or rent your account or its allowance;
- get around question allowances, rate limits, bot checks or other limits;
- probe, disrupt or overload our systems, or reverse engineer them except where the law allows it;
- use answers to impersonate an expert, or present them as an expert's own words or as endorsed by them;
- use Topic Squad for anything unlawful, deceptive, abusive or harmful.
7. Content and ownership
- Experts' content: the videos belong to their creators. We show short quotes to cite and comment on them, and we always link to the original.
- Your questions: you own what you write. You give us permission to store and process it, and to send it to our providers, only to run Topic Squad for you, as described in our privacy policy.
- Answers: you can use answers for your own purposes. Quotes in them remain the creators' work. Other people may get similar answers to similar questions.
- Our service: the Topic Squad name, design, software and the selection and arrangement of squads are ours.
8. Shared answers and topic requests
You can make an answer public at a link, and you can suggest and vote for new squads. You're responsible for what you share and write, so leave out anything personal or anything you don't have the right to post. We may remove a shared answer or a request that breaks these terms, or that a creator or rights holder has reasonably objected to.
9. For creators and rights holders
If you're a creator in a squad and want to talk about how your work is used, or want it removed, email tony@ratio.dev. If you believe something on Topic Squad infringes your copyright, send us the details: the work, where it appears, your contact details, and a statement that you're the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We'll respond promptly.
10. Availability
We work to keep Topic Squad useful and available, but it's provided "as is" and "as available". Squads, experts, videos and features can change or be removed, and we depend on services we don't control, including YouTube and our AI providers. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
11. Suspension and ending your account
You can stop using Topic Squad at any time, and ask us to delete your account by emailing tony@ratio.dev. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other people at risk, or that the law requires us to close. Where practical, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. If we close an account without good cause, we'll refund the unused part of any paid period.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about Topic Squad is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the six months before the claim arose and one hundred US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.
13. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover our losses and costs from claims caused by your breach of these terms or your misuse of Topic Squad.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Topic Squad or the law changes. We'll post the new version here and change the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll tell account holders by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Topic Squad after that, you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, you can cancel.
15. Governing law and disputes
Florida law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any consumer rights that can't be waived, the state and federal courts in Orange County, Florida have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes about these terms or Topic Squad. If you're a consumer outside the United States, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
16. General
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given up the right to. You can't transfer these terms to someone else without our written consent. We may transfer them as part of a reorganisation, merger or sale. These terms, with our privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about Topic Squad.
